Mission Statement
The men and women of the Zachary Fire / Rescue Department are committed to protecting the citizens of our community from the perils of fire, medical emergencies and other emergencies through progressive training, emergency response, prevention, education and community involvement.
History
The Zachary Fire / Rescue is located in Zachary, Louisiana east of Baton Rouge, and was established in 1931 with elected Fire Chief B.F. Hopkins and Assistant Fire Chief Charles Fonte. In the beginning Zachary had one Fire Station located on Virgina Street and it was a Volunteer department. We have come a long way since 1931. We are proudly serving the Zachary community wtih Fire Chief Dan Wallis, Chief of Operations Boyce Smith Jr., 22 fulltime career firefighters, 30 volunteer members, 2 Fire Stations, and 16 fire apparatus. We keep our firefighters educated to better serve you with year round training provided by LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute as well as daily and weekly training within the department provided by our department officers.
PROPERTY INSURANCE RATING
AS OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2005
All properties located inside the corporate limits of the City of Zachary, within the required distance from a recongnized fire station, and standard fire hydrant, if required, will continue to receive Class 2 rates. This is applicable to all in force policies and endorsements thereto.
Properties located within the boundaries of East Baton Rouge (outside the city limits) Zachary FPT which are within seven road miles of a recongnized fire station and within 1,000 feet of a standard fire hydrant, if required, will continue to receive Class 4 rating.
